Outdoor Gym in Munkfors

From summer 2024 to summer 2025, the non-profit association IFK Munkfors is running the project ”Outdoor gym in Munkfors”. The purpose of the project is to build an outdoor gym in metal with adjustable weights, located under a roof at Munkfors Arena. An outdoor gym under a roof that will contribute to increased user-friendliness and enable training year-round, regardless of weather conditions.

IFK Munkfors often organizes ice hockey camps for youth, where an outdoor gym of this kind is an important part of the training. But above all, this project is a contribution to public health in Munkfors and a complement to the existing exercise track. The outdoor gym will be easy to use and adapted for everyone, regardless of age or functional variations. During the summer of 2024, a test gym was installed that received great appreciation, with over 1000 visitors trying it out.

The construction of the permanent gym is expected to start soon, with an inauguration planned for spring 2025. The goal is to create a sustainable outdoor gym that can be used for decades to come. The gym is supplied by Omnigym, which manufactures outdoor gyms entirely in metal with adjustable weights and accessibility adaptations for wheelchairs. While the supplier builds the gym itself, local non-profit forces and construction companies are responsible for the groundwork and roof construction. An outdoor gym under a roof contributes to increased user-friendliness and enables training year-round, regardless of weather conditions.
