About us
Leader 7-sam Värmland is a non-profit association. We work with rural development in seven of Värmland's municipalities by granting project support based on the leader method.
The leader method
Locally led development through leader means that you who have ideas about local development can bring them forward, engage yourself, and apply for funding for projects. It is about developing your area based on local conditions. The idea is that local development is carried out most effectively by those who live and operate in an area.
Within leader, private, non-profit, and public sectors collaborate to contribute to local development. People from the three sectors form a non-profit association, a local action group called LAG (Local Action Group). The association is led by a board where all three sectors are represented. They always work within a geographical area called a leader area. The goal is to create attractive areas with competitive activities, new businesses, and more jobs.
What does Leader mean
Leader is an abbreviation of the French sentence Liaison Between Actions for the Development of the Rural Economy. It means ”Links between actions to develop the rural economy.”.
