climate wall
Climate wall, a corporate project in the intervention area ’Smart solutions and brave entrepreneurs’ that will be carried out from 2025-2026.
About the project
Through the project, the aim is to develop an innovative and energy-efficient solution for bedroom cooling that can improve people's sleep quality during periods of high indoor temperatures. The project builds on an existing patent and will result in two prototypes that demonstrate the technology's function and potential for investors and customers. The solution will enable zoned temperature regulation over the bed and adapt according to where the user is located in the room.
The project also includes tests of energy efficiency, noise levels, and condensate water management, as well as close collaboration with students and local businesses to develop design, construction, and manufacturing. In the long term, the ambition is to start production in Klässbol, which can contribute to local employment and a revival of the former refrigerator factory.
Purpose and goals
-
Develop two functioning prototypes to demonstrate the product's function and market potential
-
Create an energy-efficient cooling solution that improves sleep quality through localized and individual temperature regulation
-
Investigate technical requirements such as energy consumption, cooling capacity, and condensate water management
-
Prepare for future production in Klässbol to strengthen the local economy and create jobs
-
Contribute to sustainable cooling systems through material reuse and reduced energy peak load
Activities
-
Conduct design studies and target group analysis in collaboration with students from Karlstad University
-
Design and calculate the cooling circuit, power requirements, and technical components for the prototypes
-
Manufacture and assemble prototypes using existing components and locally available resources
-
Test and evaluate the prototypes' energy efficiency, cooling capacity, noise levels, and temperature regulation
-
Collaborate with local actors and develop conditions for future production in Klässbol
