Eda fortress

Eda skans, an implementation project in the intervention area ’Destination 7-sam Värmland’ conducted from 2025-2026.

About the project

The project aims to develop Eda skans as a historical destination by strengthening cooperation between local actors and creating long-term conditions for the care and development of the area. The project includes both digital and physical development, where Eda skans is highlighted as the hub in a network of actors within culture, associations, and the tourism industry.

Through the project, the aim is to increase knowledge about Eda skans and its significance as one of Sweden's best-preserved defense installations from the Great Power Era. A new website will provide in-depth information about the national interest while linking to local businesses and associations to stimulate tourism and collaboration.

The project also includes an annual Eda day, a market day with activities related to the site's history, as well as the development of a business plan that will show how revenues from activities can contribute to heritage care and continued development.
