Cultural Scene in the Barn at Mårbacka
Cultural scene in the barn at Mårbacka. An implementation project in the intervention area ’Destination 7-sam Värmland’ that is carried out from spring ’26 – autumn ’26.
About the project
The project Cultural Scene in the Barn at Mårbacka aims to develop the southern part of the barn into a modern and flexible cultural scene. Through the initiative, the Mårbacka Foundation wants to strengthen the local cultural life, create more opportunities for both professional and voluntary cultural actors, and contribute to an increased attractiveness for the tourism industry in Sunne.
The goal is to establish a fully functioning stage for concerts, theater, opera, and other cultural events, while the project should also contribute to extending the tourist season and creating a vibrant meeting place year-round. The initiative should also strengthen collaboration between local associations, cultural practitioners, and businesses, thereby contributing to local development and community.
To achieve this, the barn will be renovated and adapted for stage activities, including improvements to floors, dressing rooms, and technical installations. Stage and audience equipment such as bleachers, chairs, and lighting and sound technology will be installed. The project also includes the implementation of events, including a cultural festival, as well as marketing efforts to establish the barn as a new cultural meeting place in the region.
Overall, the project lays the foundation for making Mårbacka an even stronger cultural and tourism destination in Värmland.
