The project aims to develop and test a new method for a local and needs-driven educational concept that makes young people more employable. The focus is on inclusion, participation, and creating education that is tailored to the needs of the business community and the conditions of young people. The goal is to integrate the method into the association's regular activities and spread it to more municipalities in Sweden.

Civilization is a non-profit association with a norm-critical foundation and works to increase young people's participation, especially among groups that are often excluded. The project is a collaboration between young people, the business community, associations, and the municipality, where young people both develop and participate in education that meets the needs of the labor market and contributes to personal development.

Target group

• Primarily: Young people up to 25 years old, especially those who are neither working nor studying.
• Others: Business community, associations, and the public sector that contribute resources and opportunities.

Method and activities

The project is carried out with four main pillars:

1. Mapping the needs of the business community: Identify characteristics that employers demand, e.g., communication and collaboration skills. Employers contribute with internships, real projects, lectures, and mentorship.
2. Development of education: Create an education that is attractive to young people and distinct from traditional schooling. The education includes practical elements, study visits, sustainability, gender equality, and real-world anchoring through guest lecturers and former participants.
3. Application of knowledge: Participants work with real cases, such as events or other needs proposed by partners.
4. Internship after education: Participants who have completed the education are offered internships with the goal of leading to employment. Internships strengthen participants' CVs and provide them with references.
