The project ”Outdoor gym in Mattila” is based on the need to strengthen public health and create more easily accessible places for physical activity in nature-close environments. By establishing an outdoor gym that harmonizes with the landscape in the Finnskog area, the project aims to contribute to increased movement, social community, and a more vibrant meeting place for both residents and visitors. The initiative is based on local collaboration between Mattila Fritid AB, Mattila nature and culture association, and Mattila sports club, which ensures a strong anchoring in the local community and a long-term commitment to the development of the site.

The overall purpose of the project is to create a sustainable and attractive outdoor gym in wood that blends into the surrounding meadowland and natural environment, while encouraging movement and increased quality of life. By combining function, aesthetics, and accessibility, the facility should serve as an inclusive meeting place for people of different ages and with different conditions. The project also aims to strengthen Mattila as a destination by offering an additional activity related to nature experiences and outdoor life.

The project includes planning, land preparation, installation of the outdoor gym, and adaptation of the area to ensure that the facility is gently integrated into nature. An important part is also to carry out an inauguration with an open activity for the public, which contributes to visibility, participation, and long-term use of the site. The project group Mattila Y is responsible for coordination, implementation, and follow-up in close dialogue with the collaborating actors.

In the long term, the project aims to contribute to increased attractiveness in the area, strengthened social interaction, and improved public health. Through local ownership, voluntary efforts, and a clear operational responsibility at Mattila Fritid AB, good conditions for continuity and sustainable development are created. The project also has a clear sustainability profile through the use of local materials, low environmental impact, and a design that respects the existing natural environment, while adding a new and innovative function to the area.
