The Road to the Wilderness 2025–2027

Glaskogen Nature Reserve – The Road to the Wilderness 2025–2027. An implementation project in the intervention area ’Destination 7-together Värmland’ that is carried out from spring ’26 – winter ’27.

About the project

The project Glaskogen Nature Reserve – The Road to the Wilderness 2025–2027 aims to develop and strengthen Glaskogen as a sustainable and attractive nature tourism destination. Through this initiative, the Glaskogen Foundation wants to improve the quality of the area's extensive network of hiking trails and meet today's demands for safety, accessibility, and experience value.

The goal is to create a modern and accessible outdoor environment where both national and international visitors can have a safe and high-quality nature experience. The project will contribute to increased attractiveness, better visitor management, and enhanced knowledge of the area's natural and cultural values. At the same time, the initiative will support sustainable development of the tourism industry and strengthen collaboration between public actors, local businesses, and organizations.

To achieve this, the hiking trails will be upgraded through clearing, improved signage, and construction of boardwalks, as well as upgrading of rest areas and service functions. The project also includes the development of a digital mobile app with an interactive map, navigation, and information about trails and attractions. Additionally, information efforts will be made through new signs and guides, as well as measures to manage visitor flows and reduce wear on sensitive nature.

Overall, the project lays the foundation for long-term strengthening of Glaskogen as a modern, sustainable, and competitive destination for nature tourism in Värmland.
